Why hasn’t my 17month old eaten anything in 3 days?
This is the third day she’s refused to eat. Today, she only had 2oz of oatmeal, 2oz of carrot juice, about 15 chickpeas and a dry apricot. Yesterday she ate even less, and same with the day before. Even on good days, she’s not a really big eater. But for the past 3 days it’s been really bad. At least she still nurses several times a day, but she won’t even drink anything unless it’s coming from me.
She just cut in 4 molars all at once, but now they’re all in, so I know that’s not it. Could she be teething again so soon?
BTW she ‘s 17 months.

It could be teething, but it could be caused by a temperature or an infection somewhere such as ear infection. if i was you i would book an appointment to see your doctor just to have her checked out, cause if it is cause she is poorly then may give her antibiotics or something to make her better, then her feeding will pick back up! My 9 month old was off her food last week so i took her to my doctors and they said she had tonsillitis, bless her! she has had antiobiotics and now she is eating again! so just have it checked!
all the best x
Is she constipated?
I am a nanny for a 15 month old, and he goes through the same type of pattern when he is teething. Even though her molars just cut through, she could still be very uncomfortable, which is why she is refusing the foods you are offering. He is not a big eater either, and his pediatrician said that they will eat what their bodies need when they need it. As long as your daughter is still urinating and having regular bowel movements, I wouldn’t worry too much. Is she still in good spirits? Happy? Playful? I’d say if it goes on much longer than a week, or you notice other changes in her behavior, you should take her in. Otherwise, offer her the foods you know she likes, and let her eat what she will
Good Luck!
i know that toddlers go through phases where barely eating is ok for them.. my 2 year old barely eats now.. she wll nibble on things here and there, never a meal, and shes very healthy.. plus if your nursing your baby is getting plenty of vitamins from you……what if you try those shakes made for picky toddlers who wont eat much? ive never tried that, but at least you know shell be getting exactly what she need
My little girl was and is the same way. She is not a big eater, and some days I am sure I am starving her to death when I can’t get her to eat. If the child is nursing well, does not seem dehydrated, and is still ‘going’ 1 and 2 fine, then I would say it is just a phase and she will eat again when she gets hungry enough. Breast milk is very filling!
There may also be a security/attachment issue going on. Has anything happened lately to make her want to attach to you more strongly? Some major upset in the normal routine? My daughter reacts strongly to any changes in her environment by clinging to me in a major way.
some babies do this they just dont want to eat for a couple of days, just the way they grow unless she looks ill and is running a fever i wouldnt be so concerned… but i would check with the doctor just to be on the safe side
NORMAL – my 19 mth old does the Same . im
nursing also, i guess as .long as her weight gain is fairly fine then enjoy breastfeeding .
i think theyr always cutting teeth constantly, i know mine is, lol
my 1st born ate like that everysingle damn day, i had to give her incremin or either pentavite to increase her appetite [from the pharmacy, not prescribed] , i promise you it really works, thats amazing stuff filled with vitamins and stuff to increase their hunger and mine ate so much more straight away, we were amazed!
, my hubby gives our 17 month old a kids vitamin tablet daily, he just gives her half of one most the time cos till theyr two years old u shouldnt give a whole one yet
maybe you could try something similar, anythings worth a try, ask at the chemist xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
