Why does my parakeet sometimes lay his head on his perch?

By parakeet sometimes lays his head on his perch and closes his eyes. I feed and water him regularly. I’m in the same room as him all day (on the computer) and there’s always noise and music on. I don’t really neglect him because I talk to him sometimes and put the TV on sometimes when I go out. He’s 2 years old. Is he depressed or just tired? Should I get him some new toys? Is it that I go “lights out” at 5 am and wake up at noon? (But it happens during day AND night.) What should I do?

Give him some treats or get another bird for him to play with

Try getting him new toys, he can get bored of the ones he has, and by getting him a nother bird HE may be the one to neglect you..

You have a parakeet, not an owl. You should move him to a quiet room around 9pm, cover his cage, and let him sleep. Get up around 7am, uncover him, and go back to bed if you have to. Poor thing is not getting his rest. They need 12-14 hours of rest each night. And they don’t like loud noise either.

he is board with you,you got him for a companion well you are not living up to your side of the promise,he needs lots of love and understanding,it wouldn’t hurt to have him checked by a vet too,if nothing is wrong then start to pay more time with him, talk more hold him so he wont feel like you don’t want to be his “mate”go to the birdchannel.com for more info.they can help more
