why do SO many food and drinks have artificial sweetener in tiem?
I am mad as hell that the food industry re SNEAKING artificial sweetener in their products. I refuse to buy any of them. These sweeteners are actually more harmful to your health than sugar is. Ask any doctor who does not receive money to promote them.
If these food companies are not ashamed of putting this poison in their products, why don’t they specify in large, clear letters on the front of their products what sweetener is contained in them?

It’s cheaper than real sugar. It takes a lot less to get the desired sweetness than if they’d used real sugar or a natural sweetener like honey. I think money is the biggest factor.
Great question. I think it’s cos everyone is so anti-sugar and anti-calories that the makers think people will be more likely to buy them if they replace sugar with sweetners. You’re absolutely right though that they’re basically poison. The sad thing is people look at a product made with natural ingredients like milk and sugar and are put off by the calories. Words like ‘asparatime’ might not be understood so won’t cause the same reaction even though in reality they’re a lot worse for you. x
I can only answer from the perspective of an American. Firstly, they cannot as you assert “sneak” anything into food products. Ingredients are clearly listed on the package. This is adequate, provided you are literate. Secondly, have you seen the size of some of us? Fully thirty some percent are obese and do not need more calories. The short answer is read the label and buy what suits you. You cannot complain if you don’t check what you put into your cart.
ermmm…..can you show me any relevant research that proves artificial sweetners are bad for you in sensible doses that are likely to be ingested by a normal human being?
Quite frankly the 30g-50g of sugar in a normal soda is far more damaging to your health that the tiny amount of artificial sweetners in diet soda.
The key is moderation.
