Where can I buy bulk bird seed online?



I need to find a place to buy bulk bird seed for my cockatiel. She is a picky little thing sometimes! And it can be so hard to find good seed mixes that don’t add safflower or sunflower seeds (which she hates!) . I end up throwing out so much seed (I’m sure the birds in our yard are very fat and happy about this) but I feel bad about the waste. If I could pick and choose which seed to buy it would be great. But I want it to be human grade, preferably organic.

Oh well. At least she isn’t a seed junkie. She certainly chows down on her pellets with enthusiasm. And she loves her cooked quinoa and oats. How can such a little piggy bird be so picky about her seeds I’ll never know.
All the local stores have really, really gross pet supplies (including the pet stores). It stays on the shelves too long.

have you checked local stores like Walmart? Petsmart? Kmart?
they carry this stuff. Check on their sites online I guess.

I don’t blame you for not wanting to buy the seed carried by local pet chains. I don’t purchase my bird food there either.

There are a number of good bird seeds on the market. I particularly like “Volkman’s” and “Higgins” brands. I’d Google “Bird Supplies” and see if there is a vendor close to you. The closer the vendor, the less you’ll spend on shipping.

I frequently purchase Volkman’s from the Bird Safe Store (http://www.birdsafestore.com/) and the Higgins from Bird Supply of New Hampshire (http://www.birdsupplynh.com/). Both vendors ship quickly and their prices are fairly reasonable.
