When can a baby eat cashews?
If cashews are technically a fruit and not similar to nuts like peanuts and almonds, then can a baby eat them before 12 months? We don’t have any food allergies in the family. Thanks.

Not until they’re 3.
My son’s Pediatrician said it’s not only about ‘allergies’ but also the digestion. Nuts (of any kind!) are not easily digested, it’s really hard on the baby’s tummy. They’re also a HUGE choking hazard!
No
Mainly because they are a serious choking hazard – too small to chew properly but too big to swallow easily.
the posted above said 3.. where did they get that?
my daughters are 3 and have had nuts for awhile, their pedi said it was okay at age 2..
as for those saying its a choking hazard in their reasons why to wait until 3.. umm my 3 year olds have been eating things harder to chew then a cashew from age 1.5
i wouldn’t do it. nuts etc, aren’t recommend because if the baby chokes or accidentally inhales them, they can swell in her lungs…not good. my mom who is a pediatric nurse gave my cousin who had a 10 month old a lecture when she was feeding her baby peanuts. i wouldn’t risk it.
They need to be at least three. And it does not matter if they’re a fruit or a nut or whatever! The baby can still choke on it. You don’t want that, do you?
I think better you not give cashews to your baby under 12 months. Let your baby grow a little bit older, when they have their full teeth. Better if you give your baby other fruits which have much more vitamins such as Apple, Orange, Grape etc.
I don’t give my children nuts until they are 8 years old, not only are they at risk of being an allergy, they are also a great thing for kids to choke on and their bowels can not properly digest them until they are 8 years old.
You should never feed a baby any type of nut. Technically, peanuts are a bean, not a nut, but children die from allergic reactions to them every day. Three is the absolute earliest that a child should be exposed to nuts of any type, and even then you are pushing your luck.
there is a huge chance of choking they are softer yes but they can still break into small shap peices i would wate intel 3 years at least
Cashews are not considered a true nut. They are actually a seed pod. Mine were about 2 when they ate them.
