saccharin
It was found to cause cancer in mice.
( when will they stop using animals for Guinea pigs)?
I don’t trust any artificial sweetner, but if you must, the modern
day ones seem to be safe. Besides, sugar isn’t good for you either.
So it’s 6 of one and a half dozen of the other.

yep….i agree with JC totally……and he is also correct….neither are good for you….but ya know …we only live once…..enjoy. …if a lil sugar or Splenda in your drink makes you happy…go for it….just no Saccharin…..

Saccharin. Testing proved it to be harmful to animals.

saccharine I think was the one in there.

Actually, saccharin was never banned in the US. It’s still being used in things like gum. Starting in 1977 all products containing saccharin were required to carry warning labels stating that it caused cancer in lab rats. Further research showed that this effect was limited to rats and didn’t occur with people. The warning labels were removed in 2001.

I believe you may be refering to Cyclamate, which was banned in 1970.

I remember when that was a big deal, but I’m sorry I don’t recall.
