What type of milk is the best for your health?

Cow milk, in particular.

I used to drink skim milk all the time, mainly because that’s what was bought at home. It provides most of the nutrients of, say, 2% milk, but with a lot less fat content. I’ve recently read that the fat in 2% milk is good for you, and people are mistaken when they think skim is healthier, because it is not. Now I’m kind of curious, and wonder what milk is the best for my health.

soy plain milk with no added sugar.

yum =]

organic skim milk

just b/c you read it doesn’t mean it’s true
skim milk is ok for you.. but does it proivde 7 grams of protein and 5 grams of fiber and actually health fat like soy milk does? (fat’s found in nuts , seed, and soy is really good.. they are fat burning fats… you don’t need any kind of milk that contains hormones and is used to fatten calves so the get big )

The only real difference is the fat content, almost all fortified milk has the same vitamins and minerals. If you’re keeping an eye on fat in your diet, drink skim milk. If you don’t really care, drink what you’re drinking now or 2%. Keep in mind that your body does need SOME fats to keep going– just not too much.

Do not drink soy milk unless you are vegan or allergic to animal milk (including cow and goat). You can drink it sometimes but try not to drink it regularly.
Organic milk is too expensive, drinking regular skim milk is fine. It has higher calcium contents. It also has lactose and higher amounts of protein.
There is a study done at my school where if you drink cow’s milk, you lose weight faster than if you drink soy milk. Soy milk also tends to have higher number of calories.
If you are lactose intolerant drink Lacteez. It tastes good.

the only difference in nutrient content of milk is the fat.
Otherwise, all the nutrients are the same, but there is an exception.
Vitamin D is a fat soluble vitamin and it is naturally in milk fat. Whole, 2% and 1% milk have more naturally occurring vitamin D, but all milk is fortified with A and D. One 8 ounce glass of milk contains 25% of your daily intake of vitamin D.

organic skim, agreed

a bit of fat is needed to absorb the nutrients which are fat soluable

2% milk, 1% milk, and skim milk all contain the same vitamins and nutrients. These are calcium, vitamins A & D, riboflavin, etc. The only difference is the fat content. If you concerned with weight gain, choose lower fat dairy products like skim milk and lowfat yogurt.
2% milk and whole milk are best for young children because they need the fat for proper brain development. It is not a good idea to give a child under three skim milk. The fat is actually good for them. I drink skim milk, but I buy 2% for my children! Dairy is very important for bone health, so make sure you are getting at least 3 servings a day!
