What to look for on ingredient labels for dairy free?

I need to go dairy free. What do I need to look out for when I’m reading the labels at the store? Is there any big fancy words I need to know about?
Thanks!

If you’re in the US most foods will say ALLERGENS: CONTAINS DAIRY I usually skim right to that. If it doesn’t say that, still scan the ingrediants for: milk, casein, whey, lactose

Caseinate, casein, whey, lactose, lactic acid, calcium caseinate, as well as ‘Natural Flavors.’

If it contains milk ingredients, as previously stated, due to allergies will list ‘Contains:Milk’, although, that is not always the case.Sometimes, dairy ingredients are even in bold.

Dairy Ingredients:

the big ones to look for (after the obvious milk cream etc) the hidden ones are things like Casine, whey, lactose, lactic acid, whey powder etc.
Anything that sounds like lactose or lactic and its a pretty sure bet they are in there in a processed form.
My rule of thumb is if you don;t know what an ingredient is don’t eat it. Dairy free or not do yu want to put something “unknown” in your body??

whey or casein is in a LOT of things (even “non-dairy” creamer), and if the product has any milk products in it, they almost always list it as an allergen in bold under the ingredients, at least in the States.
