What section of a grocery store would have soy “meats”?

Not just veggie dogs.. Like I want to know where the sliced soy meat would be. Stuff like that. Plus I want to know if Tofu is any good. Is it?

Oddly enough, it is often with the frozen breakfast food. At least at my grocery store.

Mine has it near the real meats. I like tofu if it is prepared properly. If you have a whole foods or a wild oats nearby, go there and they have tofu entrees and sandwiches already made. Try that first to get some ideas on what to do with yours.

The butchery section. WHAT ABOUT THE POOR SOY”S FEELINGS?

It’s usually with the frozen foods, right next to whatever it replaces. The soy dogs are with the hotdogs, the veggie sausage is with the rest of the sausages, and so on. Veggie patties and soy burgers are usually found with the chicken patties and the real burgers. I’ve never heard of sliced soy meat. Try the deli, with the other sliced meats.

Only you can decide whether you like tofu. It is a good food product. It is nutritious, healthful, it keeps well in the fridge, and is quite versatile. In those ways, yes, it is good. I’m guessing you mean “Does it taste good?” Only you can answer that one for yourself. You’ll just have to try it. Look for various recipes, savory and sweet (I’ve even had tofu cheesecake and liked it) and try several before deciding whether you like the stuff or not.

If your grocery store is a “gourmet” one, it will have it’s own section in produce. It will be in with the organic foods.

Some stores have it all in the dairy section.

It really just depends on the store management and ownership, as to how it will be arranged, stocked and placed in the store. Your best bet will be to ask a manager where to find what you’re looking for.

At the Whole Foods where I shop, it’s in the refrigerator section near the dairy. Some stuff, like veggie burgers, is in the frozen food.

There’s also stuff I can order online.

And tofu is bland and soaks up the flavors of food you cook with it. Freeze your tofu to give it a better texture.

well, tofu tastes like whatever it’s cooked with, so it can be quite good. i love how it tastes with soy sauce.

as for where you’d find it, it varies with every store, so just ask a person who works there to show you where it is.

They often put them with the breakfast foods (don’t ask me why) or the organic frozen food section.

Tofu is as good as the cooking skills of the person who made it.

The refrigerated vegetarian section where they keep the veg*n cold cuts, tofu, and soy milk is probably near the place where they keep the organic dairy foods and such. The frozen vegetarian foods at walmart is near the frozen breakfast foods. Tofu tastes like whatever you cook it with. My favorite way to prepare it is to fry it with some teriyaki sauce and have it on a sandwich.

it would be in the specialty foods section and tofu is an individual taste thing, i hate it but i know others that love it

I’ve found veggie “meat” in the Deli section I believe, the only ones I’ve tried are turkey and bologna, and the turkey tasted horrible. I forgot the name of the brand though sorry. :-/

It could be anyplace in the store. I don’t go to stores, I raise my own soybeans and make my own tofu and soy meats. If you are going veggie, then do it right.
