What is the difference between regular granulated sugar and sanding sugar?
I know that sanding sugar is used on top of baked cakes, muffins, etc, because it doesn’t burn like regular granulated sugar. But can you use sanding sugar in place of granulated sugar?

Sanding sugars have larger crystals. It is used for finishing a product, as it does not melt so readily in the mix. Its for show!
I have no idea..but hey, atleast i got two points for trying!
