There is a very big difference and taste. Although some people do use pinto beans in their chili, kidney beans are recommended. They are a bit more hearty, much bigger and all red. Pintos have a totally different texture too that many people don’t find complementary to chili.
Kidney beans come dried and canned so either way it’s very easy to find them at the store.
Individual preference. Kidney beans have a richer, meatier flavor, in my opinion, and cost more. But that’s just my opinion. Chili is good no matter what it’s made with, as far as I’m concerned.
If you only have pinto beans, they’ll be fine. I prefer pinto beans. Kidney beans are coarser and less palatable to me.
You look
Kidney beans are somewhat larger and red
Pinto beans are spotted brown and tan and half the size
Back at the first of this summer I found a bag of 15 bean soup mix( About a cup full ) I added it to my chili it did not change it ( I removed the Lima beans yuck)
