What do you think of this diet?

I’ve reached 21 and still have mild acne and I want to get the most effective cure possible. I’ve read the best way to achieve this (short of Accutane) is eating a 100% raw diet with 0 frozen or processed foods.

Here’s the diet:
Tons of fresh fruit, salads with chives and extra-virgin olive oil, and raw egg yolk (no egg white). 5 meals a day. Occasional brazil and walnuts. Water and pure squeezed juice only. Nothing more.

I’m fully prepared to document to the entire experience. Inadvisable or advisable? I am otherwise healthy and have a normal BMI.

Sounds Great!
I think I might try it myself!

everything you mentioned is good, except the egg yolk. I’ll advise you to eat the white and let the yolk. yolks are rich in fat and cholesterol. whites are as rich in calcium, vitamin B12, protein but contain no cholesterol and lesser fat. Juices are too rich in simple sugars. try whole fruits. the fiber will make the sugars more complex. moreover, you forgot one important thing. our body cannot function without carbohydrates. your diet contains absolutely none. eat some legumes, dry beans and peas or other pulses soaked overnight and steamed the other day just for some minutes. they are very rich in protein and complex carbohydrates.

Facist, that diet is very dangerous. It will make you sick, make you waste away, and kill you. It will be expensive and it will make your acne worse.

Veg Only, had very good advice about adding some carbs and using fewer simple sugars. You will also need more protein You can gets some of the protein from the beans and legumes advised by Veg, but you should seek additional sources, such as tofu. (I’m assuming from your first diet that you don’t eat meat, but you should know that meat does not cause acne.) You should also take a multivitamin and mineral supplement. With a very restricted diet like you described, it is easy to starve your body of necessary nutrients, which will also make you weak, sick, and can kill you. So, at best, that very restricted diet should be a short term experiment, no longer than a few weeks, but better would be a few days. Do document the results, like count the number of acne per day, so you can tell what is happening. I bet your acne gets worse. Sorry to sound so negative, but I think it is more dangerous than you know. Good luck with your diet.

For God’s sake don’t do this. The person that suggested this is either nuts or is trying to kill you.

You might try just a plain vegan diet first…less drastic. Many people with persistent acne are actually sensitive to dairy and/or eggs. Don’t forget to take a mulitvitamin too, lack of zinc and magnesium can cause acne too.

I agree with previous poster. Just try the regular vegan diet first. Eat lots of veggies, beans, lentils, whole grains etc.,, Choose only good fats, like avocado, nuts and coldpressed oils. Avoid sugar and other junk like french fries and white bread. I hear some ppl solve this problem when they quit eating dairy products.

Exercise is also very important. Your skin will detox faster when you sweat. About 30 mins of workout per day will do.

Drink lots of water and homemade fruit juice (like lemonade without sugar) instead of soda. Never less than 6 glasses of water per day.

Good luck!

Acne is a terrible disease that afflicts many people

Acne is a terrible disease that afflicts many people in North America and around the world. It is marked by redness in the face and sometimes body, comedones (pimples)

on the face which can either be white heads or blackheads, cystic nodules, and can also cause pain. The condition is incredibly uncomfortable and can cause problems with

self-esteem, mental health and sometimes can lead to suicide. To understand acne is to understand one of the most complex systems in the body.

It sounds like a perfectly good diet to me, though I wouldn’t hold my breath on this being a cure for acne.

I suggest looking up the book ‘Acne for Dummies’. (one of the things mentioned in the book is that there is no evidence whatsoever linking acne to a person’s diet)

I wish you luck, though. BTW, if it works for you, let me know.

Oh, and I’ve noticed that when I’m extra thirsty, my drink of choice is as follows:

Cut up two juicy pieces of fruit (i.e. fruits like limes, lemons, oranges, grapefruit, etc.-if using grapefruit, use 1/2 of a grapefruit for ’1 fruit’-there will still be plenty of juice. Squeeze into a large water bottle and drop the fruit slices in. Fill the rest of the way with water. It tastes better than plain water, has plenty of electrolytes, and seems to hydrate better. I have no proof that it hydrates better, it just seems to in my experience.

Regular fresh-squeezed juices still seem too strong to my taste buds and many are quite sour. I prefer this watered down version to adding sugar, or even worse, ‘fake sugar’ (Sucralose, etc.-mmm, cancer @@-fake sugars…banned for their cancer-causing properties, then permitted due to no calories-I’ll take my chances with calories, thank you ^^).

Again, good luck!
