What are your opinions on this food?

What brand of food do you feed your dog?
BTW: I am withholding the name of food til later to see if anyone says they feed it or not.
I am just researching different dog foods.
Thank you.
Breeding Kills Puppies: I found an excerpt on Beet Pulp for you:
Beet Pulp, the isolated fibrous material from sugar beets, is another ingredient that has an undeservedly bad reputation. It is a very gentle, beneficial source of fiber that is not only generally very well tolerated, but also has specific properties that make it suitable as a source of nutrition for the beneficial bacteria that reside in the intestinal tract. The sugar is almost completely removed, what is left in the pulp is only about 1/5 the amount of sugar that you would find in a serving of carrots of equal size. It is also colorless and does not turn a dog’s coat turn red, like urban legends claim. The argument that beet pulp is an “unnatural” ingredient is often brought up, but people who present this complaint seem to forget that it is also not natural for dogs to eat highly processed commercial products with a carb content of generally 40% and more, and a moisture content of only around 10% as opposed to a more
Forgot to add :
Also contains 1.1% Omega 6 and 0.1% Omega 3
Rest of excerpt on Beet Pulp:
natural 60-70%. Added fiber is required to make such formulations work for the pets who eat a dry diet.

The salt is less than 1%
The preservatives are the Vitamin E and Vitamin C. No BHA or BHT.
The food colourings are Natural – it says ‘no artificial colours or flavours’.

Nice to see beef and lamb listed as first ingredients..
here’s what’s disgusting tho
“Poultry” it doesnt say what kind of poultry
“Meat and meat products”.. ya in otherwords its the scaps leftover from the butcher shop, or could even be euthanized cats and dogs for all we know
“Wheat &/or sorghum &/or barley
Wheat bran” Grains listed separatly, means there’s more grains to this dog food than it wants to try to indicate.
“beet pulp” fillers used to sweeten the dog food basically.. to cover over the rancid flavor of the “meat”
“preservatives” what kind exactly?
“food coloring” why? Because the food is probably some putrid color.
I wouldn’t feed it on a dare.
The bad:
- Meat and Meat products:
Unidentified meat products can be anything including cat/dog meat and road kill.
- Wheat anything:
Common allergen for dogs.
- Beet Pulp:
Commen Allergen for dogs. Causes ear infections.
- Salt:
Dogs do not need salt added to their diets.
- Preservatives:
What kind? BHA? BHT? These are the most common, and are known to cause cancer.
- Food colorings:
Anything artificial can be an allergen, and should be avoided.
I think there’s something wrong with Glycerol too, but I can’t remember what it is at the moment.
I have 2 dogs on 2 diets.
1 eats Wellness super 5 mix sweet potato and whitefish.
1 eats By Nature Organics.
Both eat BNO canned 100% (identified,) meat.
Edit:
Oh, and the “good” is that the first 3 ingredients are real meat, though I wouldn’t personally feed beef, and the poultry should be identified.
Poultry (natural source of glucosamine)
Meat & Meat products
Wheat &/or sorghum &/or barley
Wheat bran
Beet Pulp
Those are what concern me the most. Talk about allergens! And what exactly constitutes “meat… poultry… meat products”??? Gross!
add: The thing with wheat, as with corn is they are known to be horrendous allergens. I wouldn’t feed that food if you paid me to. I currently feed lamb and rice based food, no grains, no “by products”, etc… ultimately the brand is useless, it’s all about reading the label and seeing what is in your pet’s food.
