what causes food to suddenly have a taste of artificial sweetener when it does not have any in it?
The last 2 days when I was eating, I suddenly had the taste of artificial sweetener in my mouth, the first time while eating pasta and the second while eating dessert – I checked to make sure there was no artificial sweetener in them and there wasn’t. What could cause this?

Just the carbs reacting with your saliva.
There’s an enzyme in your saliva that breaks starts breaking down starches into sugars. I bet it’s the residual level of starches that’s giving you that weird sweet taste in your mouth.
