What are some good things to cook for Thanksgiving this year?

I’m 17 and my Father and I are doing the cooking this year. Last Thanksgiving, my mother was in the hospital so we spent our thankgiving there. My mother and the rest of our family cooks. But this year, we are doing the cooking. What are some good things to cook. I’m making a List now so far I have,

~Turkey
~Ham
~Stuffing
~Collard Greens
~Mac N’ Cheese
~Rolls or Cornbread
~Cranberry Sauce
~Green Beans, Glazed Carrots
~Pumpkin Pie
~Sweet Potato Pie
~Lemon Chess Pie
~Cakes

What else am I missing or do you think that’s it. Thanksgiving is about spending time with Family and Friends and giving thanks to those you love. It’s not the food that counts it’s the family.

And one of our traditions is going shopping the day after. I love doing that. Is anyone else going to do the same or do you plan on going some weeks before.

I’m saying this too early but to everyone, Have a Happy and Safe Halloween and Thanksgiving.

mashed potatoes and gravy, or how about a green bean casserole instead of just plain green beans… good luck and have fun!!!!

We always have corn and some type of sweet potato cassarole. We always have wine to toast our friends and family too. While food isnt the main focus of the day it certainly plays a nice part in the celebration.

Sounds like a pretty good spread. The only thing I can think of to add is some type of salad. I HATE shopping after Thanksgiving. Way too many crowds. I try to have my shopping done before Thanksgiving.

Mashed potatoes and gravy definitely!

BUSICUTS, COOKIES, CHEESE CAKE

Sounds like you’ve got it covered. Is the mac & cheese in place of mashed potatoes and gravy? I would suggest one or the other, unless of course the mac & cheese is a traditional dish. Either way, you’ll need turkey gravy. Sounds yummy.
My daughter and son-in-law started a tradition a few years ago. They stay over and we go shopping on Friday. However this year they have add’l animals to tend to so we may not be able to. Either way, I love to get into the crowds, and get into the holiday feeling. I usually have my tree up for Thanksgiving (its at my house) and use my Christmas china – like I said I like to get into the holiday mode early!!
Have a great Thanksgiving – and Blessed Christmas.

What you have is plenty. Mind if I come? Jk :)
