we got doc’s ok to go past cereal, now what? :)?
he said we didn’t have to do veggies, then fruit, he said we could do it how we wanted…to start i just want something to give her cereal some flavor….any good ideas? how about brands, he said gerber, beechnut and walmart are all about the same..did anyone’s child have a reaction, dislike or distaste for one or the other? i usually buy beechnut cereal, some things gerber…is the store brand just as good when it comes to starter foods for baby? if so, which store brand do you like the best and why? thanks in advance!

we use beechnut….the peas seemed a bit thick and he didn’t like the texture…but so far he liked everything else. (we’ve yet to try carrots or green beans…those come next) I mixed the fruits and veggies up a bit so he tries some veggies then some fruits then more veggies. That way he cn have fruits in the AM and Veggies in the PM. (of course after the 3-5 day trials) now that he has tried a few I can go back to the ones he had no issue with.
What I am doing is keeping a list in microsoft Excel with the food he tried, what date, if he liked it or not and if he had an allergic reaction.
My son is eating gerber stage one and we started out with green beans the first week and once we knew he had no reaction the second week i gave him a fruit and mixed it with his cereal. He has now tried carrots, sweet potato, peas, green bean, peaches, bannana, and applesauce and has had no reaction other than REALLY stinky poop. The only advice is to not try to many orange things in a row or he can look a little jaundice colored and if he gets a little diaper rash that is normal(my son hasnt) because of the acid in the fruits but since i mix it with cereal i dont think he is getting as much.I dont think the brand really matters just go with what you feel would be good.
Cook up vege’s yourself, it is much healthier and tastes better. Also you know exactly what’s in it, unlike bought jar food. Start with boiled potato and then try carrots, sweet potato etc. It’s a bit of extra work but it’s worth it.
