Vegetarian options to shortening?
I’m not a vegetarian at all and definitely love my meat and potatoes diet, but some things I just can’t handle. I made biscuits yesterday and read on my shortening canister that the product is “Prepared from Meat Fats and Vegetable Oils…”. Yuck! The first thought that came to mind was the drip pan from my George Foreman grill full of bacon fat. Are there types of shortening or shortening substitutes that aren’t made from meat fats?

Crisco is made entirely of vegetable fats. I’ve actually never heard of one w/ meat products until now.
