Vegan friendly birthday party ideas for a teen?
I am thinking about my next birthday party (it is a bit off in the future to really be planning it) I myself am a vegan, none of my friends are but a couple are just plain vegetarian. I respect other people’s beliefs but as my birthday party is a celebration for **me** I feel like it should reflect my beliefs. Therefore, I want all the food to be vegan. This is easier said then done, a lot of my omni friends will not appreciate grilled tofu and quinoa.
So I need some fun, vegan food ideas. Not things like cheese-less pizza or cheese-less meat-less tacos, my omni friends won’t really like those. I want it to be vegan but I want my guests to eat food that *they* like.
I have already thought about rolling sushi (vegetable rolls only) which I think could be fun buut I dunno. Any ideas?
Troll answers are laughed at and not taken seriously.

Well then I guess you don’t want my recipe for a cheap, healthy, easy, vegan snack.

OK, fine. Here it is:
One can of black beans, drained and rinsed.
One can of corn, drained.
One jar of salsa
Mix all ingredients and serve with tortilla chips.

I’m more of a carnivore than an omnivore and even I’ll eat quinoa as long as it has some sort of flavor to it. I make it with good olive oil and Tastefully Simple’s Season Salt. Also, I prefer the red quinoa it has a much better taste than the regular.
I love tomatoes cut up and tossed with good olive oil, basil and a bit of garlic salt (alot of garlic salt really but that’s just me). This is also really good with shredded mozzarella if you aren’t worried about being totally vegan. If you saute the tomato salad for a few minutes you can toss it with warm pasta.
Edamame is one of my favorite appetizers. I also love cut up veggies but most people won’t eat them without dressing.
I like lentil soup alot. Saute onions, celery, and carrots in some olive oil, add some garlic saute some more. Add lentils toss around a bit, add some canned whole tomatoes, toss around some more. Add water and cook until lentils are done. If you add less water, it’s more like a side dish than a soup. Normally I use chicken stock instead of water, but water will work.
Hope this helps.
Well I had my 18th birthday party as a vegan at a seafood restaurant and brought my own food as everyone else was a big meat eater.
You should consider just going to a vegetarian restaurant, it’s easier.
Hard one, you could make spinach dip (It actually taste pretty good) Fruit salad, ect. There’s also vegetarian chicken nuggets that taste just the same and things like that. Since these are all kind of small make sure to tell them to have lunch or dinner before they come.
Tomato-basil bruschetta is AMAZING and i guarantee (almost) everyone will love it!
Pasta is another thing that people generally don’t mind as meatless.
Maybe hummus and pita bread, depending on how courageous your friends are?
Also, fruits and veggie with dip are always a big hit!
REMEMBER! if you’re friends don’t want to be at your party because they’re hating about the food you serve & can’t respect that you want everything to be vegan.. maybe you should reevaluate if you want them there.
hope i helped!

Don’t ever underestimate the power of fresh fruit. I’ve seen grown men nearly cry over in season strawberries.
Depending on the type of party you’re having, you could also try serving up an ‘international buffet’ that just happens to be vegan. I’ve found people are more accepting of vegan food with they think of it as exotic, not strange.
If it’s more of a finger food party, red pepper hummus on any veggie or pita is well loved by my omni friends.
The sad thing is, it may not be as creative as you’d normally like to eat but this situation requires compromise. After all, your party isn’t about trying to convert omnis, but to celebrate your successful consecutive year around the sun. People should be happy, and sometimes, that means dumbing down the menu.
That said, the website below has some really great vegan recipes, and commentary on how the author got them to taste yummy and whatnot. Best of all, these foods LOOK normal, thus pleasing the doubters
