Thanksgiving is coming up what is something you serve or have eaten that is out of the ordinary?
Every Thanksgiving we have the same old basic dinner you know turkey, stuffing, yams, cranberry, pumkin pie ECT. What are some other dishes have you had on Thanksgiving? O yea an example would be one year someone brought sushi.

Green chili is a hit in my family.
i have ate turkey cranberrys and peas all together it was sooo good
we have soft taco shells with cream cheese n sweet relish ”mixed” n angus shaved beef, tomato n onion rolled up and then cut in pieces w tooth pic olive in it. its gone in 2 min.
Not unusual but not “traditional” either ….About five years ago, in disgust over the lack of availability of good turkeys – as well as boredom – I roasted a rack of lamb instead. Now that’s all my family wants for Thanksgiving, although last year, I did a crown roast of pork…also yummy! But I always serve the traditional side dishes of stuffing/dressing, cranberry relish, green beans, yams. I won’t make mashed potatoes; I make roasted red ones.
The most unusual thing I’ve eaten on Thanksgiving is Korean food. My college roomate was Korean, and I spent the Thankgiving break with his family. They didn’t celebrate Thanksgiving, so…
We never do the usual turkey. One year we had mega-nachos, lasagna and salad and cheese bread one year, tacos another. Once we did like a football food day with hot wings, burgers and salads, beer, desserts. It is a day to give thanks, celebrate being together, not go to work. Shoot, we even use paper plates so we don’t spend all that time cleaning up! One year, before my mom passed, she brought over deli trays and we just snacked all day long. The stores always run out of the usual stuff, but you can always find stuff for anything else. The list goes on of the odd foods we have had…we have done sushi as a matter of fact, paired with a stir fry and Peking duck, enchiladas, BBQ pork sandwiches with salads{make my own BBQ sauce yummmmm}…go wild, don’t be mild{or common!}! The only time I have the usual is when I go over to some one elses place, which is rarely just for that reason.
Roast Cuban pork, white rice & black beans, fried plantine and fried yucca with lots of olive oil and garlic.
we smoke one turkey and bake another. the smoked turkey is odd – when it’s done it’s completely black on the outside. doesn’t look very appetizing, but it is AWESOME
