Oatmeal raisin cookies?

I have a recipe for oatmeal raisin cookies.

The recipe calls for a cup of shortening.

I do not have shortening, all I have is vegetable oil or canola oil.

Can I substitute the shortening for one of the cooking oils I have?

1 cup of butter

canola oil ,

yeah, use butter or margarine. here’s an excellent recipe:

vanishing oatmeal raisin cookies

ingredients
1/2 pound (2 sticks) margarine or butter, softened
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt (optional)
3 cups Quaker® Oats (quick or old fashioned, uncooked)
1 cup raisins

Use two sticks of butter instead and your cookies with be wonderful!

Vegetable or canola oil may cause your cookies to spread and become lacy. You could substitute the full cup of shortening for a cup of applesauce.
