Need some help with preparing rice for Biryani?
I love cooking/eating Indian food. I have cooked various curries with success, surprisingly!
Now I am going to attempt, for the first time, to cook Biryani.
I bought the mix (gharma masala) in a box and am following the recipe on the back of it.
I am a bit confused with cooking the rice. The recipe says to cook the rice half way and then mix it in with the rest of the ingredients then simmer to thoroughly cook.
I am thinking of cooking the rice in a traditional rice cooker/steamer. The problem is I can not set it to cook the rice halfway!…..LOL
Some tips with this would be appreciated.

I’m lazy…I just add everything at once.
It worked out for me!
Cooking the rice halfway will not work in a rice cooker. They want you to cook it halfway and add the other ingredients so they will not overcook.
This will work the best on a stove top, did you buy a package for Biryani masala? If you add everything together & cook it all at once —- it’s more like a pulao which is equally good and easier.
Making biryani is long & complicated process. It’s even harder at home. So either make it on the stove top or cook everything at once.
GOOD LUCK!
i would cook it at one go but ive seen my mum do it the half way. first she would saute the blended onion garlic and ginger then mix with all the other spices and once the aroma comes up she would pour rice in stir it all together then straight away transfer to the rice cooker. it’s rather easy just that people(me) are getting lazier. have fun and good luck.
