Making Soap?

Recently I have wanted to make soap, but cannot find Red Devil Lye. What would be some good substitutes?

Also, I’m having trouble finding coconut/Palm Oil. Any Idea where I could find those?

Check the site below. You can arrange to purchase lye from them, and they have an extensive line of soap supplies, oils (including coconut), fragrances and colorants. They’ve been around for a while, too. Enjoy.

Don’t worry about a particular brand name for your lye if you must use the lye in the recipe.

Coconut and or Palm oils are found in drugstore sometimes, in grocery store in cooking oils and at health food stores.

Here is another site with environmentally friendlier recipes for making soap:

They no longer make red devil lye, you might be able to find Roebic at your local hardware store – — the 1st container 100% Crystal is the one you need to look for

Coconut Oil can be found in most grocery stores and walmart (that’s where i buy mine) its usually on the top shelf – call Lou Ann’s

I’ve been told you can find palm oil at WHOLE FOODSstore. The palm oil may be labeled organic veg. shortening,

check out this link: towards the middle/bottom of the page Kathy has quite a few places shared that you can find the oils you are looking for
