We raise birds and have a natural habitat. We always have plenty of left over feed for our wild friends. First research the species know what they eat. and their natural territory . I have found if you keep plenty of feed out with a lot of variety in the mix . it will encourage them to stay, If they are native to your area. We even put out fruit and veggies. Most birds migrate for long distances and just stop off..............Keep on birding its fun.............

I agree, without knowing your location we how can I tell you if it's rare. Blackcap Chickadees usually hang out around pine trees. If you have pines then you'll have blackcaps if in the Northeast.
