Is there such a thing like almond butter, walnut butter like there is peanut butter?

I don’t really like peanuts, I kinda like peanut butter, but I’m not crazy about it. I love walnuts a lot, and I like almonds.
If turning peanuts into butter make sit something I like, what would turning walnuts into butter taste like.
Is there somewhere where I can find walnut butter?

yes….grandpa use to have all different kinds of butter.

Yes they are all sold in specialty stores. The walnut one is called “salsa di noci” in Italian (that is what it says on the label of the jar that I have).

Almonds are ground into almond paste (like marzipan) or into a less sweet one for making almond fillings.

Butter is just a word for that thick consistency. Peanut butter is so popular that people forget that. Think apple butter for instance.

Ingredients needed:

1/2 cup walnut pieces
4 ounces (1 stick) unsalted butter, cut into pieces, at room temperature
1 tablespoon minced shallots
1 teaspoon chopped garlic
1/2 teaspoon salt

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.

Spread the walnuts on a baking sheet and lightly toast in the oven for 7 to 10 minutes. Remove from the oven and let cool. Roughly chop.

Place the butter, walnuts, shallots, garlic, and salt in a medium bowl, and mix well with a rubber spatula. Spoon down the middle of an 8-inch piece of parchment paper and roll into a log, about 1-inch in diameter. Wrap tightly and refrigerate until ready to use.

To use, cut into thin slices and place on top of the Bacon Pancakes. (The Walnut Butter can be frozen, tightly wrapped in plastic, for up to 1 month.)

Yield: 2/3 cup

you could try going to a speciality store.

Couldn’t find a recipe for almond butter, except for recipes that have almond flavored butter. Just thought the below recipe was interesting…

u can get almond filling or paste along with the walnut paste in the baking eisle of your local supermarket

I don’t know about walnut butter, but you can get almond or cashew butter in the heath food section of most supermarkets.

You can actually make your own walnut butter from walnuts and olive oil then sweeten it to your liking. Here is a recipe

find your nearest wholefoods and go the peanut butter and jams aisle….you will find almond butter and all different kinds of butter including apple butter and cashew butter…..

try making it the same way you make home-made peanut butter.

Put the nuts in your blender add a small quantity of a good oil and blend. Better to start with a very small amount of oil and slowly drizzle more oil in as the blender is going until you obtain a consistency you like.

You can add some sugar to increase the sweetness……

Could also use walnut oil or almond oil depending on which nut you are using.

Good Luck

Yes you can buy them at most health food stores. Whole Foods, Sprouts, and Sunflower Market all carry them

I don’t know about the walnut, but you can buy almond and cashew butter. Really pricey, though.

yup there’s walnut butter and also hazelnut butter w/chocolate called nutella. there are some at specialty shops online but pricey!
