Is there a difference between ground red pepper and ground red (cayenne) pepper?
If a recipe specifys red pepper (cayenne) would it be okay to use a spice called red pepper but excludes the word cayenne from its label?

as far as i know, ground red pepper IS cayenne pepper. They are one in the same, so no problem.
to my knowledge, yes there is a difference. isn’t cayenne a spicy kind of pepper and red pepper just like pepper only red? i believe i am correct.
There isn’t much difference. Some red peppers aren’t cayenne, but unless you are Emeril, you could never tell.
