Is sesame chicken just orange chicken with sesame seeds on it?

I’ve had my fair share of Chinese food in my life, but I’m still not sure if these dishes are essentially the same thing…

Again, is sesame chicken just orange chicken with sesame seeds on it, or are they completely different dishes?

Yes :D Sometimes they use sesame oil but not too often. I imagine your hypothesis is correct. YUM!

There is a difference in the coating, orange chicken has an orange base.

don’t know

Yes and no,

Both are boneless chicken chunks originating from Hunan cuisine but one has a more spicy-tangy flavor (orange chicken) and the other one is made to have a sweet-savory flavor (sesame chicken).

Sesame chicken is more like Gen. Tso’s chicken if you ask me.
