Is red hair color a dominate allele?

Alright, well I was born with golden brown hair, but every year my hair gets redder, the only person in my family who has completely red hair is my granny, my hair is as if you took the same amounts of red, mixed it with the same amounts of brown and then a hint of honey, like it’s paprika, mixed with chocolate, and with a little tiny bit of honey color, like a low light of blonde, but you can barely tell. So is red a dominate allele, like is it a dominate or recessive? Like in skin tone darker skin tones are dominate.

it is recessive

The red hair allele is recessive; however, with skin tone and hair colour, there are many alleles that come into play–you can see this effect in the population since there are many different hair colours and skin tones–it isnt just”black and white”.

Contrary to popular belief, more than one gene contributes to hair color. Therefore, it can not really be said if it is dominant or recessive, because there is a combination of factors that contribute to hair color. Red is not common at all, and in fact, it is predicted that in a few hundred years, there will be no more red hair. Brown and blonde can be considered “codominant”, while red can be consiered “recessive”, but this is not really the case at all, because of the many genes,

My children both have the same color hair it is like a new penny in the sunshine! I think it is beautiful and my dad said mine used to be the same color! It is strange that your hair would be getting red though…??
