Is it safe to mix deep frying oils?
I’m a nut for fried fish and chicken, and have a conundrum.
Peanut oil imparts a great flavor to the food but leaves that typical oily residue, and cooks rather slowly.
Lard has no flavor and browns/crisps better than oils, but oxidizes more readily so you get fewer uses out of it. Lard also has more saturated fat but cooks food faster.
Is it safe to mix the two 50/50? Will they separate at high heat like they do at room temperature, or cause other problems when combined?

You can mix them, but be sure to keep the heat at 375 or lower while frying. Lard has a smoke point of 375.
I actually see the conundrum..having fried with both, myself. Generally, I love frying with peanut oil. You cannot deny it tastes best. Will the combination be safe to fry?..yes. Do I see the benefit?..not really. Lard is quite heavy, and myself…I taste nothing but the lard, in anything fried. Stick with peanut
