Is it safe to eat butter made from sour cream?
I was going to make whipped cream today, but found that my whipping cream tasted sour, although it wasn’t curdled or anything and the best before date is tomorrow. I whipped it anyway, and ended up making butter. The butter tastes fine, but is it safe to eat?

yep if it says “best before”…they’re talking about quality, to a certain extent ofcourse….if they say “use by” then use by that date
Yes! Before modern dairy practices, aka “factory farms”, much butter was made from sour cream! Is it better? I think it is. A lot of people use it & yogurt, including the Amish.
yeah it should be fine. i grew up with cows and goats and found that letting the cream sit out at room temp, it helps it separate and makes it easier to make the butter. so i guess that would be made from sour cream
