is it really dangerous to take medicine not studied by the FDA?

i bought a product from humaworm… its a parasite cleanse actually… below is something written like this: “2007 Humaworm, Inc. DISCLAIMER: These statements have not been evaluated by the FDA. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. ” so,,, do you think it is dangerous to take the medicine? my mom is making such a big deal out of it…she’s so worried it might be harmful. how rational is she about it? btw,, many people are recommending it online…they said it is successful though there are some side effects like headache…the medicine is made up of herbs (Black Walnut, Wormwood, Cloves , Thyme, Garlic, Fennel , Cayenne, Ginger, Gentian, Hyssop, Milk Thistle, Marshmallow root, Pau D’ Arco , Burdock, Elecampane, Fenugreek, Licorice , Barberry , Cascara Sagrada, Senna, Sage ,Psyllium, Yellow Dock, Cramp Bark, Peppermint). so what do you think?

well, FDA says that Aspartam is not harmful, and it’s ok to use instead of sugar, yet many ppl who took aspartam instead of suar woke up with serious memory problems, ending up with Alzheimer. So… on who’s side is FDA?

There is antidepressants on the market passed by FDA and prescribed that should not be used for human consumption. But $$ is $$. I have never hears of Humaworm. Call a local pharmacist that you know and trust.

It is a cleanse I can tell you that. It has laxatives in it so it will make you use the bathroom a lot. I am not sure if taking all of those ingredients together is harmful or not though. One thing though is it is not going to do anything to really cleanse you any more than taking an over the counter laxative will. If you really want to take if you can try it but better stay close to the bathroom once the laxatives kick in and don’t expect it to do much more than make you use the bathroom a lot.

I’ve used parasite cleanse before and it was okay for me and my daughter, but different people react different ways. I’ve also used most of the herbs you have mentioned in various forms or combinations and still do. You do have to be careful not to mix certain herbs with prescription meds. You could look up some of the herbs listed and see if they have any side effects or warnings that might not be good for you.

I’m not too excited about all the FDA does either although I do have to take prescription meds. I believe a bunch of what they pass has to do with money….it’s all about money. Notice how they have to take some of the drugs off the market after a while? Well, they aren’t perfect either. And I’m always skeptical about how long it’s been out and the long term side effects that haven’t showed up yet.

So, to sum it all up. If you are under 18, I would do what your mother says. There are both pros and cons for herbs and FDA meds, so don’t be so hard on her.
