Is it okay if break open a flax seed oil capsule and drink the oil with water?

I know it sounds kind of gross but when i tried my first one earlier the pill was too big so i just couldn’t get myself to swallow it, i’ve always been scared to swallow pills, and these are huge. so i poked open the capsule and squeezed it into a bit of water and just drank it, i just wanna make sure it’s okay, and also is flax seed oil really good for your skin, hair and nails, thats why i bought it, thanks.
