i sa change in diet sufficient to justify a change form green to brown fecal patter in my Meyer’s parrot’s poo
My parrot is normal and perky and energetic but his poos are so varied in consistency and colour. normally they are quite thick and greenish, though they can be runny (in the morning) aand green. At the moment they are browner, he has been eating a lot of nuts, hazel, almond, macadamia, cashew and brazil, from my tin that i bought for myself. he seems fine but i lost a budgie to an indetected stomach bug so i’m a little wary. any avdice anyone can give would be very much appreciated. THANKS

You want to change his diet. Meyers parrots need a pelleted diet (Harrison’s or other high quality organic pellets) supplimented by fresh fruits, veggies, pasta, anything healthy that we eat they can eat as well. AVOID: alcohol, caffeine, avacado, sugar, salt, butter, chocolate. No onions or garlic either.
It sounds like the different feces are from what he is eating. Nuts and seeds are very high in fat and can lead to fatty liver disease among other problems. Try to avoid the colored pellets, as this can and will change the color of their feces to something close to a rainbow. Good luck!
The nuts can do that like the answer above suggested. Anything fed to a bird in high quantities can cause the stool to change color. In fact, I feed my bird some blueberries over a course of a day and he pooped blue for two days!!!
