How to solve this inequality?

A merchant has 5 pounds of mixed nuts that cost $30. He wants to add peanuts that cost $1.50 per pound and cashews that cost $4.50 per pound to obtain 50 pounds of a mixuture that costs $2.90 per pound. How many pounds of peanuts are needed?

I need help!

wow, i totaly forgot how to do that

You need 45 more pounds of nuts to add to the mixture (50-5=45). 1 pound of the original mixture is $6 (30/5=6). You want the resulting mixture to cost to be $145 (50×2.90=145) and the 45 pounds to be $115 (145-30=115). Then I did some trial and error and came up with 20 pounds.
