How much flax seed is too much for an African Grey Parrot?

I give my parrot – an average sized guy, about 425 grams- about 1/8-1/4 tsp flax seeds every day as a treat. But I wonder if that’s too much, like too oily and hard on his kidneys or whatever. He eats Harrison pellets and is picky about veggies but of course loves fruit (sugarholic) and whole grains (rice, quinoa), and gets nuts daily (usually one or two almonds, sometimes a Brazil nut), in addition to (probably every other day) treats like avi-cakes, sunflower mix, etc. So, is the flax seed probably too much for him?
Thanks.

Only give him Flax seed once a week,as you say too much can cause problems.

the amount you give is ok but it’s way too often. Cut it back to every 4 or 5 days as a treat.

I would definitely cust back on any seed. My Grey loves safflower. It is her absolute favorite. But earlier this year, she had a few seizures, and they did blood work, and found she had high cholesterol. All other test checked out fine. My Avian Vet told me to cut the seed out entirely and only use it if its a must. Such as don’t have the fruit or veggies to make a quick snack. She recommended and I now use the Zupreem diet and she loves it. We buy the Spicy and the Fruity blend and alternate. I only buy safflower as a treat, and do that maybe 2 times a week, and less than a handfull. Once she see’s the seed, she knocks everything else out of the way.
