I am using an old cookbook and they say i need a half a cake of chocolate. I have no idea how much chocolate this is. Every time i try to search for it it gives me links for chocolate cake which is not want i want i want to know what is the measurement of a cake of chocolate.

got me, never heard of that

I would think the cake of chocolate is 1 oz. like a square of unsweetened chocolate. I do remember actually getting individually wrapped “cakes” of cooking chocolate when I was a kid. I’m pretty sure they were 1 ounce. Otherwise they were 2 ounces, but I just looked at some squares in my pantry and I think 1 ounce is correct.

I think it is a square of like Bakers Chocolate which is an ounce…so half of a cake would be 1/2 ounce. Can’t sware by this.
