How many peas do I feed to my 3 goldfish?

I have 3 goldfish(fantails) in my tank. I have been feeding them fish flaked but I personally believe that live foods are better for them as it is much more ‘natural’ and will stop their constipation. I have been doing a bit of research and I believe that feeding them pea’s is the easiest and most convenient for me. What is the best way to go about this? How many peas do I put in per fish and should I thaw them before I put them in the tank?
Thanks

I would not recommend feeding them peas. Feed them fish food. That is what it is made for. Where did you get the pea-brained idea to feed fish peas?

Here is a site that explains it in detail

And yes you can and should feed them peas when they have constipation

Hope that helps
Good luck

i dont know 3-4 mabey depending on the size of the fish

Be sure to peel the little shell off of each pea. Its no big deal I make a little cut and pop the pea out. I have three and I give them a small handful when I give peas.

Be sure to give them a slice of orange . They LOVE it.

Actually my gold fish will eat anything.

It depends on how big the peas are and also on how big the fish are. You should defiantly thaw them though… fish don`t have teeth!

you thaw them out and once there done squeeze um out of the skin and into your tank but id advise mushing up the peas whne feeing determining on the size of your goldfish and you sensible
judgement whne feeding take in mind there stomachs arent as big as there body id say two to three each maybe even four

Hi Mrmin, You are absolutely correct-many flake foods are basically rubbish! Hard to say exact amounts for the peas but I generally cook, shell & dice the peas, then sprinkle the pieces in the tank-perhaps half a pea per fish per day. As peas have mild laxative effect it is not recommended to feed only peas. The best staple diet you can give your Goldfish is Pro Gold or Hikari sinking pellets. Supplement this [together with the peas] with frozen blood worms & brine shrimp, cooked broccoli florets & as someone else mentioned citrus fruit.

These are just a few ideas, there are dozens more foodstuffs Goldfish enjoy-many listed on the link Evelyn has attached.

Id blanch them in boiling water for a min or 2 and peel the skin off them, feed 1 or 2 pees per goldfish.

Just drop some in and watch them eat, when they lose interest of after 2 min remove what has not been eaten.

I would still feed them the flake food as it has lots of vitamins in it for them. It is best to feed them a varied diet of live/frozen food, flakes and pees you could even try things like spinach!
