How many cups of water to 1 cup of rice when using a rice cooker?

Is it 2 cups of water for 1 cup of rice or 1 cup of water for 1 cup of rice? I’ve been using 1 cup water and 1 cup of rice but my rice turns out crunchy.

You have to use 2 cups . Also you can add a little bit of oil so the rice doesn’t stick

It depends on what kind of rice you’re using. Here’s a guideline:

White, long grain – 1 3/4 cups of water per 1 cup of rice
White, medium grain – 1 1/2 cups of water per 1 cup of rice
White, short grain – 1 1/2 cups of water per 1 cup of rice
Brown, long grain – 2 1/4 cups of water per 1 cup of rice

On the stove top the general rule for rice is 1.5-2 cups of water per cup of rice depending on rice variety and how soft you like your grain. Basmatti rice requires less water, while short grain rice (ie Japanese sushi rice) requires more.

You should follow the directions for your rice cooker. Most rice cookers come with their own rice measuring cups. Regardless equal parts rice and water will always be crunchy b/c that is not enough water. If you can’t find the instructions for your particular cooker start with 1.5 cups, and gradually increase by 1/4 c until you get the rice consistency you like.

Hope this helps.

read the instructions on the cooker booklet
it is usually 2 to 2

the correct ratio of water to rice is 2 to 1 . that is 2 cups of water for each cup of rice.
