How many bars of chocolate do you need in a chocolate fountain?

I’m doing a meal for my friends birthday on Sunday, and would love to use a chocolate fondue for desert. Any one know how many big bars of chocolate i would need?
And would the cheap choclate be okay to use?

people don’t usually use the chocolate bars. its cheaper to use the large chunks of cheaper chocolate. we have a store here that sells that kind of stuff. check in your area and see if you can buy bulk unlabelled chocolate. hope the party goes well.

cheap chocolate might taste bitter or greasy – Palmer’s is the worst brand i’ve used. give a single bar a test run before you commit to a brand. how many you’ll need will depend on the size of your pot, but a dozen is a fair guess. i’ve also used chocolate “bark” in a fondue – you’ll find it in the baking aisle, it’s most often used on coated pretzels and stuff like that. again if you go with the “bark” test a smaller piece before you commit to a whole pot. you can also go to the bridal section of say Wal-Mart (usually with the crafts) and get candy melts – the have different flavors and colors (made by Wilton). hope this helps.

You should use ALL forms of chocolate:
Block-chocolate:
Chocolate bars:
Chocolate kisses:=%7BB74E749D-E3AD-4679-9D4B-7D5679410B78%7D

And melt all of it to make:

YAY!! CHOCOLATE!! ^_^
