How is whole grain corn identified in ingredient listings?

In foods that contain corn, labels sometimes list “corn”, “whole corn”, “enriched corn meal”, “stone ground corn”, “corn flour”, or “corn treated with lime”.

Which of these are whole grain and which are not?
I’m pretty sure that the lime in “corn treated with lime” is the mineral (clacium hydroxide) not the fruit.

Since corn doesn’t have a hard coating like wheat and oats, I would have to assume that they all are “whole corn” items.

Whole “grain” in referring to corn is primarily animal feed, whole “kernel” corn is processed sweet corn that is canned or frozen for human consumption. Grain corn is also used for making corn meal and is perfectly edible by humans, though that is no longer it’s primary purpose.

your list:

Enriched corn meal is ground corn with an additive of some sort. whole grain

Stone ground corn is a grinding process that results in a more coarse corn meal. whole grain

Corn flour is made from corn hearts and is also known as corn starch. NOT whole grain

Corn treated with lime is meant to alleviate bloating that some people suffer from after eating corn as best as I remember. not sure

Both “corn” and “whole corn” would be unaltered corn,,, yes, it could mean “whole grain”.

Are you totally and completely confused now ?

Tell you the truth i don’t know, But I farmed and Milked cows and that corn produced the best tasting milk. We grew the corn and chopped it up and put in silos. Now silos stand about 150 feet high, and all the silage was put in there. But to your question same as wheat flour, white contains one part, whole of course contains all of it, wheat germ is the highest of all, like cream of wheat. All there telling you it is broken down. Lime is use in many cases, Smell, Preserving, Construction, and now you know, whole grain means the whole thing, anything other additives have been sent in. Need more info on this give me a shout, that will get you mind going for know
