How do you eat/prepare flax seed?

I am taking flax seed oil because of its health benefits and would like to start adding whole flax seed to my diet. How do you eat it? Any suggestions or recipes?

You can add it to oatmeal cookies-yummy!
Sprinkle some on a salad or in a casserole.

Toss it in anything you would put nuts or seeds in. Easily subed for sesame seeds or almonds or peanuts in any recipe.

The whole seeds are much easier to take than the oil! (Yuck!)

The seeds have lignans (great for cancer prevention) and a fiber that is great for the colon. I use milled flaxseed (I am a nutritionist) and there is no need for the oil since it is in the seeds. You can grind it up or buy it milled. Othewise it will pass thru you without being digested.

It has a pleasant taste so you add it to baked items, soups, brown rice or any kind of food that it mixes well with. I drink a greens drink and add it to that. Some greens drinks have some in them. See site below for greens drinks to learn about them.
