How do I stop rice from drying out in the refrigerator?

I’ve tried tupperware and the rice always comes out dried out and hard. What’s the best way to store rice in the fridge?

add a bit of water to the rice to make it sort of moist. Then place it in the fridge.

A glass jar with a tight fitting lid.

Leftover cooked rice should be placed in a shallow container to allow it to cool quickly, and stored in the refrigerator for up to a week or in the freezer for half a year or more.

To reheat the rice, add 2 tablespoons of water for each cup of cooked rice, cover and heat on top of the stove or an in oven until heated through (about 5 minutes). In a microwave oven, cover and cook on high for about 1 minute per cup. Frozen rice may be cooked for 2 minutes on high power per cup. Fluff the rice with a fork.

I would suggest freezing any leftover rice, then defrosting it in the microwave when needed. This works really well for me. Rice doesn’t last more than a few days in the fridge anyway.

Use a bowl that just barely fits the rice. This will eliminate air and the problem you have.

Make sure the rice is cooled first though.

If it still gets too dry make Fried rice for which this is perfect!

The best way to revive leftover rice is to reheat in a microwave. Fold and wet a paper towel with water and put i directly on to the rice snuggly around entire top. It acts as a steamer!
