How do I get insurance to pay for Elecare Formula?

I am allergic to all the foods but 8 and my dietician says that since I cannot eat any meats, legumes or grains, that it is not enough to sustain life. I started on Elecare formula about 2 years ago, when I was down to 89 pounds, my heart was doing a flip flop thing in my chest, my hair was falling out, my asthma was not controllable and my heart had an infarction.

Since starting the Elecare, I have gained 25 pounds, my heart no longer does flip flops and my hair has grown back.

I have a child with the same condition and he is on a feeding tube with the same formula…he is 8 years old. Our youngest child has severe asthma, as well. Due to the high medical costs, I had to take a second job. With the new job, came a secondary insurance company.

The same day I got the new insurance, the old company, Unicare, began refusing to pay for our Elecare. The new company, Anthem Blue Cross, Blue Shield says they will not pay for the Elecare either. So, the cost of it of $900 is on us.

We already pay $700 a month for copays on other medicine, the additional $900 is just not going to happen…not and keep our house anyway. We live in a very small 3 bedroom house with 3 kids and my husband and I. We both work and do not qualify for any government assistance.

I know I will die without the Elecare, my son may too, but my situation is more dire than his currently. If I get the Elecare, our home will eventually be forclosed upon and we will be forced to file bankruptsy. In then end, I will not be able to get the Elecare anyway and will die.

I really do not want to starve to death, I already almost did that once. It was horrible.

How can I get the insurance to pay for this?

man, the system of insurance in our country sucks big time, you have my sympathy. I would write to the the first insurance, the one that did at one time pay for your much needed nutrition, I would tell them that if they do not cover your needs, as they have in the past, then you will have to take them to court. You would have a good chance of winning too…then look for an attorney, many will consult with you for free the first visit, and see if a personal injury attorney will help you.
