How can I use chocolate chips to make a chocolate coating?
My local grocery store ran out of the chocolate meant for chocolate coatings. I wants to dip rice krispie balls in chocolate and bought semi-sweet chocolate chips. Can I add something to make it like a chocolate coating or will it stay on with nothing? Please give me some tips! Thanks

I have put them in a ziploc bag and microwaved until melted and then cut a small hole in the corner of the bag and squirted it out through that. It worked nicely. It dries hard. But if you are dipping the rice krispy balls you could probable do the same thing, just dip them in the bag.
This is the best Chocolate Chip Coating recipe on the web!!
_ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips real or milk
_ teaspoons vegetable shortening solid
Place chips and shortening in the top of a double boiler or in a bowl that fits snugly over a saucepan. Over hot not boiling water, stir frequently until melted and smooth. Use for dipping or molding. Makes enough for 40 to 50 chocolate-covered candies or 18 to 20 small molded candies.
Refrigerate dipped or molded candies until set. Release molded candies from molds. Store finished candies tightly covered in the refrigerator.
You can prepare a Chocolate Ganache to coat ur Rice Krispies .Here’s the recipe:-
8 ounces of chocolate(chopped to bit size pieces/chocolate chips)
1 cup Heavy whipping Cream
1-tsp Unsalted Butter(optional of a lustrous shine)
Just heat the heavy whipping cream till its warm (you need not boil it). Then pour it into the bowl of chocolate gradually & gently stir. Once the chocolate gets incorporated in the cream add the butter, you will notice it has this amazing shine & thats it……….ur Chocolate ganache is ready.
Melt regular chocolate chips…
(Optional) add a little cream to make a ganache.
or (Optional) add a little unsalted butter to the melted chocolate. 1 T (tablespoon) per cup of chips.
BTW… chocolate meant for coating should be the same type of chocolate used to make chocolate chips.
uhh melt them. I’ve done that before.
