Genetics help! (10 points)?
In maize, two linked genes G and H lie 18 map units apart on the same chromosome. GGhh and ggHH plants were crossed to produce a dihybrid. The dihybrid was then testcrossed. At what frequency would the GgHh genotype appear in the progeny?

50-50 i think
1 out of every 8
i have no idea
50%, same as without.
A map unit (centimorgan) has a 1% chance of recombining per generation. At 18 map units, there is an 18 percent chance.
In the first generation, any crossovers will be silent since the tested alleles are identical. All the dihybrids have genes which are Gh and gH. At the second generation, 18% of the genes are subject to crossover. As a result, 18% of the chromosomes will be GH or gh. Because they are equal in frequency, the GH x gh, plus the Gh x gH versions of the GgHh genotype add to 50%.
