For sistahs only: Now what do I do about my hair?
I have been growing my relaxer out for several months, and was so excited about wearing my hair naturally curly…except my natural hair is not curly at all, it is like one big, thick, hard puff (think Wallace, that Pistons basketball player). I’m not going back to getting a relaxer, but what am I supposed to do now? I look like Buckwheat when my hair air dries. Waaahhh!

you can get a weave untilk your hair grows out more and the relaxer is gone, or you can cut the relaxer out and let your hair grow and then get a texturizer
haha so am i. I’m still searching…. but i HAVE a relaxer. I do loooove aussie a lot though. dont worry, it can be used in your hair. the three minutes miracles are like foreal miracles. and olive oil products work very good but I hate the scent.
i’d go with aussie =]
Try washing it in a shampoo and conditioner that promotes curls. Also, you might try mousse but only rarely because hair holders are not really great for permanant fixtures. I might also suggest washing it at night and putting curlers in, my hair dries with waves or ringlets when I do that but my hair has a little natural spring to it.
Hope that helps.
Take a look at the process you use for drying your hair. Maybe you can braid or twist while your hair is wet, that way you can implement some structure to the way it dries. Once its dry, you can undo the braids or twists, if you like, and have a wavy pattern to your hair. You also should use a great moisturizing oil on your hair while it dries to help manage your coils.
There are lots of sources online that are helpful in the maintenance of natural hair, which is very different than maintaining relaxed hair.
The website I listed below is one of my favorites. The woman posts a lot of pictures and gives great details about how she takes care of her hair (and her hair is gorgeous!). She also lists links to other websites as well.
i suggest i was feeling the same way. i wanted my hair to be curly like Corbin Bleu i got something else. something nappier. and i kept denying it trying to make it curl and i even went and got a texturizer. but i had to learn to accept hair on my head for what it is and nappturality helped me with that.
congratulations for freeing yourself from the relaxers.now you should be patient and let your hair develop.black hair is quite unique and you will find that you,ll embrace its beauty in time. choose a natual hair stylist to advise you what course of action to take.their styles are endless and what more much more healthier for you in the long run.i’m sure you’ll find something that suits your lifestyle.good luck
