sometimes people put it into the food to add flavor, ask the caterer about it probably they’ll know, but from what i know, no many caterers put peanut in their food

it’s depend what type of curry. For fish curry or meat curry no peanuts , since it’s vegetarian peanuts in gravy for the rojak for sure.

Usually in Indian cooking, if peanuts are used they will be used as a whole or in powder form. You will be easily able to identify visually if the dish contains peanuts. Peanuts are not used extensively. The gravy of the curries contain cashews and almonds. In rare cases, sometimes peanuts are added to the gravy. But most of the Indian restaurants are aware of people being allergic to peanuts and avoid using peanuts in curry. Peanut oil is used in some cooking. But again this is rare. So just to be on the safe side, mention your preference at the counter and I am sure you will be able to get good advise on what to eat and what to avoid. Hope this helps.

In Hyderabad ,India ,we use peanuts as part of the curry paste ingredients ,notably for ‘ Bagare Baigan’ a vegetarian curry of egg plant served traditionally with biryani,there are curries prepared with whole green chillies called ‘Mirchi ka salan ‘ that also uses the same curry paste .a lot of ground chutneys ,condiments to go with the meal also contain ground peanuts.
Ask ingredients stating your allergy to the caterer,who will definitely be of help .
