Hi,
If you don’t have any white, milk, nor semi-sweet chocolate on hand, you might want to take a quick trip to the store.
Peppermint Bark
Ingredients
Crushed candy canes, to yield 1 cup
2 pounds white chocolate
Peppermint flavorings, optional
Directions
Place candy canes in a plastic bag and hammer into 1/4-inch chunks or smaller. Melt the chocolate in a double boiler. Combine candy cane chunks with chocolate (add peppermint flavoring at this point if desired.) Pour mixture onto a cookie sheet layered with parchment or waxed paper and place in the refrigerator for 45 minutes or until firm. Remove from cookie sheet and break into pieces (like peanut brittle.)
(4-4.5 star rating!) –look at the remarks–one person substituted peppermint candy!
Enjoy!
1 sleeve of saltine crackers
1 cup butter
1/2 cup light brown sugar
12 oz semisweet chocolate chips
1 cup chopped pecans
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper. Lay saltines in a single layer on parchment paper.
Melt butter and brown sugar in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil and cook for 3 minutes, stirring constantly. Pour butter-sugar mixture over crackers. Spread evenly. Bake for 15 minutes.
Remove from oven and sprinkle with chocolate chips. When chips become soft, spread them evenly over entire layer of crackers. Sprinkle chopped pecans on top.
Refrigerate for 1 hour. Remove from refrigerator and break into pieces.
