Feel free to substitute for just about any ingredient in this chili recipe. Use your imagination! I like my chili mild, so if your ideal chili burns your tongue, add red pepper flakes, jalapeno and habanero chilies, and of course, more chili powder.
INGREDIENTS:
1 lb. ground beef
2 onions, chopped
3 cloves garlic, chopped
2 (14 oz.) cans diced tomatoes, undrained
15 oz. can tomato sauce
1 Tbsp. chili powder
1 tsp. gorund cumin
1/2 tsp. dried oregano
2 (15 oz.) cans red kidney beans, rinsed and drained
2 Tbsp. cornstarch
1/4 cup water
PREPARATION:
Cook ground beef in heavy skillet until brown and drain. Mix all ingredients except cornstarch and water in 3-4 quart slow cooker. Cover and cook on low heat for 6-7 hours until vegetables are tender. Turn heat to high.
Mix cornstarch and water until smooth and add to chili, stirring well. Uncover and cook for about 15 minutes, until slightly thickened. 8 servings
INGREDIENTS:
2 lbs. ground chuck
1 cup chopped onion
1 green pepper, chopped
2 to 3 ribs celery, chopped
1 large (28 oz.) can crushed tomatoes
1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
2 cans kidney or pinto beans, drained
1 tsp. pepper
3 tsp. chili powder
hot pepper, to taste, cayenne
1 tsp. garlic salt
PREPARATION:
In a large skillet, brown the ground beef. Drain well. Combine all ingredients in a slow cooker; cover and cook for 7 to 8 hours on LOW, or until done.
Serves 6 to 8.
Yes you can make chili in a slow cooker
the only thing you need to do first, is brown off your meat and drain the fat . Then just put all ingredients in cooker and keep on med heat stir occasional .Cook 6 to 8 hours
Through it all in the crock pot girl! Brown the hamburger first, I like to season it too, then toss it in with whatever you like. If you like what the ingredients are- throw em in , if not leave em out or replace it! The croc pot is the best way to make up your own ideas and cook everything perfectly. I even put 2-3 chicken breasts in there with a bottle of BBQ, and presto, the chicken can be pulled apart and you have delicious sandwiches (like BBQ pork)! Experiment with it and you’ll be amazed!
YES YOU CAN PUT IT IN THE SLOW COOKER,,,, JUST BROWN YOUR MEAT FIRST
yes u can do that in a slow cooker. i think it adds to the flavor. if u have any left overs i`ll be more than happy to take them. i really like chili.
Oh for sure! Chilli is best in a slow cooker. Put on low all day.
Just make sure when you are done tht you cool any leftovers off before you put them in the refrig. Putting them into smaller containers so they can cool quickly will save you from any bacteria growing in the think chilli (just putting the crockpot in the refrig is asking for trouble.)
yes. However, putting it in a slow cooker will take longer than on the stove. the good thing is that it won’t burn like it could on the stove, and it doesn’t require constant stirring.
put your ingredients in and put it on low/medium. let it go for 4 or 6 hours.
Also, do NOT open the lid. Opening the lid delays completion by about 15 -20 minutes each time. The cooker has to build the heat back up again when you do.
Then make your rice and enjoy it.
I envy you. Sounds delish.
of course you can just put it on low heat and stir every couple of hours let cook untill veggies in chili is soft
Slow cooker will be fine ,be sure to leave beans out until last hour of cooking. If they get too hot they will shrink.
