Can you substitute chicken broth for water?

I am making this recipe.

http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/emeril-lagasse/hoisin-pork-ribs-with-cabbage-pineapple-and-macadamia-nut-slaw-recipe/index.html

I have made it one time before so i have all the ingredients but i dont have chicken broth, and i really dont feel like driving down to the grocery store to get it.

So instead of filling the pan with chicken broth can I use water instead??

THANKS.

Yes, you have enough flavors in there that you won’t miss the chicken broth. If you have packet of chicken powder or a cube, throw that in.

for that recipe, it sounds like the broth is the start of the sauce. if you dont have broth, try a mixture of water with pineapple juice or orange.

you can but it wont taste as good i think for the amount of work and ingredients its worth the trip to the store

I suppose you could, but I am afraid it will be bland and lose a lot of flavor without the chicken broth or stock.

Do you have any beef broth instead? Maybe that would work. Or do you have any bouillon cubes?

Sorry, I don’t have any good subs for you. Happy cooking!

Don’t you mean, “substitute water for chicken broth?”

Well you can, but like with all substitutions, the result won’t be the same.

For future reference, you might want to add some chicken bouillon cubes or powder to your spice rack. Chicken bouillon would be a better substitution here.

Yes, you can, just remember to salt the water to about the saltiness of chicken broth. That recipe has enough other flavorful ingredients that you won’t need to, but if you ever have this problem in the future you could easily make a vegetable broth from carrots, onions, and celery. Just chop and simmer in water with salt and pepper. Good luck!

Yes you could…although the meat may not be as flavourful.
Even if you had some dry onion soup mix or anything like that, it would work.

You can use water, but the final result won’t taste the same.
