Can you make lasagna without cooking the noodles?
So I found this really easy recipe and in the ingredients it said “uncooked noodles” and the recipe said nothing about cooking them do you guys think that i can still make it without cooking them or should i cook them anyway…?
Recipe:
Ingredients:
1 pound lean ground beef
4 cups tomato-basil pasta sauce
6 uncooked lasagna noodles
1 (15-ounce) container ricotta cheese
2 1/2 cups (10 ounces) shredded mozzarella cheese
1/4 cup hot water
Directions:
1.) Cook beef in a large skillet over medium heat, stirring until it crumbles and is no longer pink; drain. Stir in pasta sauce.
2.) Spread one-third of meat sauce in a lightly greased 11- x 7-inch baking dish; layer with 3 noodles and half each of ricotta cheese and mozzarella cheese. (The ricotta cheese layers will be thin.) Repeat procedure; spread remaining one-third of meat sauce over mozzarella cheese.
3.) Slowly pour 1/4 cup hot water around inside edge of dish. Tightly cover baking dish with 2 layers of heavy-duty aluminum foil.
4.) Bake at 375° for 45 minutes; uncover and bake 10 more minutes. Let stand 10 minutes before serving.

That is absolutely doable! You just have to be really generous with your sauce. And you also have to make it more fluid as opposed to being too thick.
The hot water you are adding should cook the noodles. Thats probably why it bakes so long. I’ve never made this recipe or any like it. But I would trust your recipe.
If you really don’t trust it though. (I might not myself), then cook the noodles first, but then omit the water in the recipe.
sure can. I used to make it at a place I worked at all the time. Just make sure your liquid covers all the noodles so they are not exposed. I was very leary the first time and thought for sure it was going to be a failure but it works great.
The noodles will cook as it bakes. It will soak up all the moisture. That will help keep it from falling apart when you cut it. I would use sausage instead of beef.
Hi there, Lasagna is a great, simple italian dish that we all just love isn’t it? None of us make it enough though!
Some Lasagna noodles HAVE to be cooked before you bake the lasagna, others can be placed in the baking pan with the sauce and the cheese uncooked. It’s necessary to read your box and see what kind of noodles you have.
I always buy noodles I can use uncooked, so much simpler, but don’t forget to leave 1/4 to 1/2 inch between the noodless as they will expand when they cook. good luck.
hey
well instead of pouring water into the Lasagna why dont you buy lasagna noodles that dont have to be bolied first. just buy pre-maid lasagna noodles that way all you have to do is pour the sauce & cheese and do layers of noodles & just put it in the oven.
no water or boling needed.
if your going to do it this way just make sure theres lots of sauce. or else the noodles will kinda be dry.
hope i helped
